My Journey To Wellness,
It started approximately 3mos. ago, I so happened to watch ABC News, which I don’t normally watch that often at that time of day so I know it was a blessing from God. I saw this woman on the news being interviewed and talking about the weightloss/wellness and I really focused in, grabbed my ink pen and wrote her name down hoping I could find her on facebook. Incredibly I was able to find her and started following her on facebook, I was impressed by the wonderful words of encouragement and the positive things I was seeing and, after meeting her in person and hearing her incredible story really boosted my spirits and gave me confidence, I was saying WOW! I can do this with a little help and a lot of encouragement from ONE positive person by my side to be there for me and to help lift & boost my confidence level and talk to me instead of at me and putting me down, and I can truly say I have found the positive roll model in Greta Ross.
It has been a struggle for me to workout and lose this weight, especially dealing with severe back pain and walking with a cane, I was thinking the only way to get rid of this weight was surgery…I knew I didn’t want to go that route so I decided I would get in that gym and do my best and accomplish a little at a time. I started out walking barely making it twice around the track without having to stop and rest my aching back, which by then was throbbing uncontrollably and I’m fighting back tear and all I could hear Greta saying is, You Can Do This! Do What You Can & Always Listen To Your Body. I would look at the sign on the wall that read, 11 laps around equal 1 mile, that didn’t help because as much as I wanted to do a mile I was convinced I NEVER would be able too. I was determined to try, so I made it a point to get in this gym 5 days a week and walk the best I could. Then I heard Greta telling me, Pray As You Are Walking, ask God To Help you and that’s exactly what I would do
I would walk 2 laps sit and rest my back, get back up walk 2 more laps sit again and rest my back then get up walk 2 more and was proud I was able to do a half mile. NOT all at once but I did it. I thought I was bad! 😂 after about a month I was able to add a few extra laps and go in weight room. My back pain was getting worse but was determined to fight through it and was able to walk a mile once or twice a week that really made me feel good and helped me believe I could do this…soon after I was able to walk a mile EVERY DAY with a CANE I must say…and it became easier…Yes I’m still dealing with severe back pain but now I determine to win this race. Yes, because of my back it will take longer but I’m ok with that. I will NOT give up. My last appointment I was told I lost 20 pounds, and that boosted my spirits so high I believed in myself that I can do this, I’m positive I have lost a little over 20 pounds but won’t know exactly how much until my next appointment.
