You are so sweet and thoughtful! If I were you, I would have given up on me a long time ago. I get started, then get derailed by “life”. You are always there to motivate and encourage me to get back on track. Thank you! For now I am doing a 30 minute walk several times a week.
Thank you Greta! You are the BEST!

Hey Greta how are you? Corona has drastically changed my life for the better! Walking twice a day, feeling better than I have in 10 years. Doing better with diet and diabetes. Wanted to say thank you for all the encouragement you’ve given me. Watching your lifestyle has definitely kept me from giving up. Even the people you brought into my life, Ebonie and Lanell, have been motivational. Always remember someone is watching and listening to you even if they never say so. Greta YOU make a difference!!
Until we meet again,
Take care.

My story has unfolded in three phases. I call the first one, “The Nudge” and it starts like this. I have always exercised especially when my OB/Gyn asked what I was doing for cardio-fitness when I was 28-years old. The answer was “nothing”, which made me think about what my great-aunt told me before she succumbed to ovarian cancer. She said. “Your health is all that you have, so take care of yourself.”  I needed hear this to become aware that I would not have the same level of health if I didn’t do something now. I was now in phase II of which I called the “The Shoulder Tap”. During this phase, I signed up at my local YMCA and began classes. I started with yoga, next pilates and dabbled in a spin class or two which have led me into a consistent regimen. As a result of trying new modes of fitness, I finally found the courage to learn how to swim at age 32 through YMCA classes. After learning to swim, I fell in love with snorkeling! I felt as if a whole new world opened up for me.

Phase III begins at age 49, I call this phase, “The Push”. I gave birth to our first and only child which has been pure joy from pregnancy onward, but I noticed my body was physically weaker around six months post –partum. I developed sciatica which made difficult it for me to drive, exercise and care for my family. I begin to worry as I never felt such pain, not even during my pregnancy or birth. I begin physical therapy which alleviated some of the pain but realized that I needed to “Push” my workout regimen further to get stronger and back to health. I had no excuse, especially with my little one and husband depending on me.  I thought about weight training and then in walks Ms. Greta! You see I was fortunate enough to see Ms. Greta’s interview about her story and fitness goals on our local station. I was looking for a way to improve my workout regimen in order become stronger for my family (mentally and physically), rid myself of sciatica pain and tone myself after pregnancy guess what , she had the solution!

I am so thankful to God for all the phases which have made me stronger and brought positive motivation into my life. These phases encouraged me to step outside of my comfy place and introduced me to wonderful people, such as Ms. Greta and all of you which help me support my positive momentum. I want to give this encouragement back to keep the positivity going! We can do this! Stay encouraged and know that I am cheering for you all to meet your fitness and life goals. Thanks for hearing my story. Let see what the next phase brings for us all!

My Journey To Wellness,

It started approximately 3mos. ago, I so happened to watch ABC News, which I don’t normally watch that often at that time of day so I know it was a blessing from God. I saw this woman on the news being interviewed and talking about the weightloss/wellness and I really focused in, grabbed my ink pen and wrote her name down hoping I could find her on facebook. Incredibly I was able to find her and started following her on facebook, I was impressed by the wonderful words of encouragement and the positive things I was seeing and, after meeting her in person and hearing her incredible story really boosted my spirits and gave me confidence, I was saying WOW! I can do this with a little help and a lot of encouragement from ONE positive person by my side to be there for me and to help lift & boost my confidence level and talk to me instead of at me and putting me down, and I can truly say I have found the positive roll model in Greta Ross.

It has been a struggle for me to workout and lose this weight, especially dealing with severe back pain and walking with a cane, I was thinking the only way to get rid of this weight was surgery…I knew I didn’t want to go that route so I decided I would get in that gym and do my best and accomplish a little at a time. I started out walking barely making it twice  around the track without having to stop and rest my aching back, which by then was throbbing uncontrollably and I’m fighting back tear and all I could hear Greta saying is, You Can Do This!  Do What You Can & Always Listen To Your Body. I would look at the sign on the wall that read, 11 laps around equal 1 mile, that didn’t help because as much as I wanted to do a mile I was convinced I NEVER would be able too. I was determined to try, so I made it a point to get in this gym 5 days a week and walk the best I could. Then I heard Greta telling me, Pray As You Are Walking, ask God To Help you and that’s exactly what I would do

I would walk 2 laps sit and rest my back, get back up walk 2 more laps sit again and rest my back then get up walk 2 more and was proud I was able to do a half mile. NOT all at once but I did it. I thought I was bad! 😂 after about a month I was able to add a few extra laps and go in weight room. My back pain was getting worse but was determined to fight through it and was able to walk a mile once or twice a week that really made me feel good and helped me believe I could do this…soon after I was able to walk a mile EVERY DAY with a CANE I must say…and it became easier…Yes I’m still dealing with severe back pain but now I determine to win this race. Yes, because of my back it will take longer but I’m ok with that. I will NOT give up. My last appointment I was told I lost 20 pounds, and that boosted my spirits so high I believed in myself that I can do this, I’m positive I have lost a little over 20 pounds but won’t know exactly how much until my next appointment.
